Initial assessment
Your first appointment: a full history, physical examination, diagnosis and treatment plan in one 40-minute session. Book this if you have not been seen before.
Treatment / follow-up session
A 30-minute session building on your assessment with hands-on treatment and progressive exercise. For patients already under Marcus's care.
Neurological appointment
A longer 60-minute assessment or follow-up for MS, stroke, FND and other neurological conditions, available in clinic or remotely.
Acupuncture & sports massage
Clinical acupuncture and sports massage, booked as standalone sessions or alongside a physiotherapy programme.
Virtual appointment
A video or phone consultation from anywhere, with evening and Saturday slots. Well suited to MSK and neurological conditions.
Home visit
A full assessment and treatment in your own home, across Bolton and Greater Manchester, for patients who cannot easily travel.
What happens at your first appointment?
Your initial assessment lasts 40 minutes. Marcus will take a detailed history of your condition — when it started, what makes it better or worse, and how it affects your work and daily life — then carry out a thorough physical examination.
By the end of the appointment you will have a clear diagnosis explained in plain English, a treatment plan with realistic timelines, and a home exercise programme to begin straight away. No GP referral is required, and you can bring any scans or letters you already have, though they are not essential.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement and access to the area being assessed. Payment is taken at the time of your appointment, and Joint Venture Physiotherapy is recognised by Bupa, AXA Health, Aviva, Vitality and WPA — check your policy for physiotherapy cover before booking.
Cancellations and rescheduling
If you need to cancel or rearrange, we ask for at least 24 hours' notice so the slot can be offered to another patient. Appointments cancelled with less notice, or missed without notice, may be charged at the full session fee.
If you arrive late we will do our best to see you, but your appointment may need to be shortened so as not to affect other patients. Full details are in our terms and conditions.
